SHE IS ENGAGED—Announcing the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Avon, to Harold Heine, are Mr. and Mrs. Anfin Hage of Longview. Parents of Miss Hage's fiance are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Heine, also of Longview. The couple are graduates of R. A. Long High School, and Mr. Heine is employed with the International Paper Company.

Charivari Honors Newlyweds, The Hages

A recent charivari was given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Anfin Hage, nee Mildred Vories (sic), at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Vories. The crowd assembled at the club house then all went to the Vories home where a pleasant evening was spent.

Arch Hendricks Honored At Birthday Party

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Voreis of Scotts Valley were hosts at a cootie party honoring Arch Hendricks, on his birthday, at their home on Saturday night.

Cootie was played, after which refreshments were served, including a beautiful birthday cake made by Mrs. Hendricks. Red and blue crepe paper were used in decoration.

After the refreshments dancing was enjoyed by the following guests at the happy affair: Mr. and Mrs. Arch Hendricks, Mr. and Mrs. Olie (sic) Waage and children Genevive (sic), Norman and Edward, of Oakland; Mr. and Mrs. Anfin Haage (sic) and children, Janice and Avon; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Burger, Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Hystad, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Patten, Mike Guinn, Jack Hendricks, Shirley and Richard Voreis. Fern Green was ill and unable to attend.

Joint Birthday Party At Alin Hage Home

A joint birthday party was enjoyed on September 6th at the home of Mrs. Mildred Hage with Janice Hage and Norman Waage as guests of honor. The latter was here visiting from Oakland.

The traditional birthday cakes for each honoree and other delicious refreshments were served.

The guest list included: Leah Jean Noreen, Tommy Curry, Darlene Henderson, Dennis Harmon, Sandra Hage, Saundra Sowell, Joanne Butler, Shirley Beach, Edward Waage, Genavieve (sic) Waage, Avon Hage, the two honored guests and Mrs. Carl Noreen, Mrs. Arch Hendricks, Ole Waage, Anfin Hage and the hostess.

Anfin Hage and Mildred Vories Married At Reno

Miss Mildred Vories (sic), 19, and Anfin Hage, 25, both of Scotts valley, drove to Reno on Saturday and were quietly married at 10:15 that morning by a Christian church minister, Rev. Runyan. Witnesses were Mrs. Runyan and Miss Jimmie Walker. The bride's costume was a dark blue tailored suit, with wine colored hat and blouse, and black accessories. They returned on Sunday.

The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Vories (sic) of Scotts valley and is in her senior year at C.L.U.H. She is a charming young girl and assists in serving the cafeteria lunches at the high school.

Mr. Hage came here from North Dakota three years ago and has been making his home with his cousin, Mrs. J. E. Berry in Scotts valley. He is highly regarded by numerous friends and is well known in the valley, where he is employed.

For the present the newlyweds are making their home with the Vories (sic). Heartiest congratulations are extended them.

Daughter Born to Former Local Girl

Friends this week learned of a baby daughter born Thursday to Mr. and Mrs. Ole Waage, nee Iris Voreis, in Oakland. She was given the name Geneviewe (sic) Elaine. The baby weighed seven pounds and seven ounces and is their first child.

Mrs. Waage's mother, Mrs. Arthur Voreis, daughter Mildred and Mr. and Mrs. Royden Livermore, nee Virginia Charlton, who were married Sunday, drove down on Friday to visit the new heir. Congratulations are extended to the happy parents.

Second Child, Son, Born to Mr., Mrs. Waage

A son, Norman Ross, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ole Waage, nee Iris Vorheis (sic), on September 3 in Oakland. This is their second child, the other is a daughter three and a half years old.

The mother is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Vorheis (sic) of Scotts Valley whose other daughter, Mildred, had a baby last week.

Third Child Born To Mr. and Mrs. Ole Waage

Mr. and Mrs. Ole Waage, nee Iris Voreis, of Oakland are the proud parents of a baby boy born OCtober 27th. The little fellow weighed seven pound, fourteen ounces and was named Edward Vern. This is their third child and second boy.

Mrs. Arthur Voreis returned on Saturday following a two and a half week's visit in Oakland with her daughter and family.

Shirley Voreis is now employed by the Stanard (sic) Oil Co. at Richmond and brought his mother to Lakeport. Mrs. Anfin Hage and daughter, Janice, are spending this week with her sister, Mrs. Waage and family.

Mildred Eva Hage 1920-2006

Mildred Eva Hage, 86, died October 7, 2006 at Hospice Care Center in Longview. She was born April 10, 1920 In Black River, Missouri to Arthur and Geneva (Ross) Voreis. The family moved to Lakeport, California in 1925. She married Anfin Hage January 20, 1940 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in Lakeport until moving to Longview in 1950.

Mildred went to work at R.A. Long High School in May of 1953 as a custodian. She worked there for 29 years until retiring in the spring of 1982. She saw two generations of her family graduate from R.A. Long High School while she was working there (her four children and two of her grandsons.) Mildred loved her family. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved sports, especially when her grandchildren and great grandchildren were playing. She was there for every game. Mildred also was a Portland Trail Blazer fan and she never missed a game if she could help it. Mildred loved working in her yard. She had many beautiful flowers and had a small garden every year.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband in 1977, a sister Iris Waage in 1975, and a brother Ross Voreis in 1988. Survivors include: One son, Leroy (Rose) Hage of Longview; three daughters Janice (Wally) Marthaller of Longview, Avon Luce of Salem, Oregon, Bonnie Hage of Portland, Oregon; a brother Richard Voreis of Kaysville, Utah; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park with Richard Voreis officiating. Interment will be held at Longview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be to Community Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, Washington 98632. Arrangements by Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park and Crematory.
