The Cowlitz Valley Moose Lodge enrolled a class of eight new members at a dinner meeting Saturday. The new members are Paul Smithson, Warren Ammons, W. Torppa, Osborn Chelmer, Ray E. Corbin, John Novak, LaVein C. Breeze and Donald George.

The annual Christmas party for children of lodge members was held Sunday. Movies were shown and a program presented by some of the young people. Allen Hage and Gary Styve playd a trumpet duet; Margaret Heroux played a piano solo; Sharon Hall sang two numbers; Molly Wenzynek gave a ballet number, and Beth Schoberand June Marie Lincoln also presented a ballet dance. Cheryl Keeptan and Bonney (sic) Hage staged a tap dance number.

The Moose will sponsor a teenage dance at the Longview Armory tonight. Music will be provided by Spencer Kindorf and his orchestra.

Eagles Party For Children Held Sunday

Longview Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary members held the annual Christmas party for their children on Sunday afternoon at the Eagles Hall. Santa Claus came in person to visit the youngsters and to distribute gifts and treats.

A number of children took part in the program which consisted of tap dances, songs, poems and piano numbers. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Stewart were program chairment (sic).

Included in the program were a vocal solo by Jerry Mason; a tap dance by Cheryl Keaton and Bonnie Hagle (sic); song by Mike Easley; reading by Carol Ann Stewart; song, "Jingle Bells," by Donald Wagner; "Away In a Manger," sung by Mary Wagner and Jean Bender.

"I Heard The Bells," sung by Dennis Clark; a modern dance by Nancy Olfson; song, "The Bells In the Steeple," sung by Linda Clark; "Jingle Bells," sung by Penny Henderson; song by Virginia Braun; song by Douglas Dignam; "Christmas Song," sung by Gerry Mason.

In charge of refreshments were Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Davis, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Fuller.

S. M. Moore served as general chairman.

Mildred Eva Hage 1920-2006

Mildred Eva Hage, 86, died October 7, 2006 at Hospice Care Center in Longview. She was born April 10, 1920 In Black River, Missouri to Arthur and Geneva (Ross) Voreis. The family moved to Lakeport, California in 1925. She married Anfin Hage January 20, 1940 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in Lakeport until moving to Longview in 1950.

Mildred went to work at R.A. Long High School in May of 1953 as a custodian. She worked there for 29 years until retiring in the spring of 1982. She saw two generations of her family graduate from R.A. Long High School while she was working there (her four children and two of her grandsons.) Mildred loved her family. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved sports, especially when her grandchildren and great grandchildren were playing. She was there for every game. Mildred also was a Portland Trail Blazer fan and she never missed a game if she could help it. Mildred loved working in her yard. She had many beautiful flowers and had a small garden every year.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband in 1977, a sister Iris Waage in 1975, and a brother Ross Voreis in 1988. Survivors include: One son, Leroy (Rose) Hage of Longview; three daughters Janice (Wally) Marthaller of Longview, Avon Luce of Salem, Oregon, Bonnie Hage of Portland, Oregon; a brother Richard Voreis of Kaysville, Utah; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park with Richard Voreis officiating. Interment will be held at Longview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be to Community Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, Washington 98632. Arrangements by Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park and Crematory.
