Keven met his wife, Jennifer, while attending Brigham Young University. Kevin graduated from medical school in Dallas in 1981. He did his OB/GYN residency in French Camp, California. He and his wife lived in Newton, Kansas for 7 years, Price, Utah for 2 years, and have lived in McAllen, Texas since 1994. They are very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
