Idar was born in the coastal region of northern Norway. He grew up helping out at the docks and ships. As of around 2002, Idar is the captain of a large aluminum freighter under the employ of the largest aluminum company in the world, Alcoa. When he is not at sea, he has been living in the United States for several years. He met Reidun Waage through their mutual friend, Reini, while looking for a place to stay in the Bay Area. He has a daughter and her immediate family still living in Norway.Parents
